I had two of my cars repaired at this shop. My Lexus RX300 with 150,000 miles and a Ford Escape with 120,000. I was ready to sell them and buy new cars because of multiple problems that I had with them. However, Sam at Transmatster was able to fix both cars for me so I can safely drive them now and enjoy them. The cost of repair was acceptable given multiple problems and after all I think I saved a lot of money by fixing them rather than buying a new car. I highly recommend this shop for regular maintenance as well as for repair of your cars.

We appriciate you taken a time to write this review. Thank you very much.

Arumugam said everything was good. He has always had a good experience. The service is prompt. The service advisors are good at explaining what is wrong with his vehicle and what his options are for having it repaired.

Thank you for writing this review. We look forwarded to see you next time.

I took my car recently for an oil change. In addition to the oil change, Sam and his crew performed an inspection and noticed that my struts on my 02 accord were completely gone. He showed me the struts and explained clearly what they do and compared them with new ones. I know what struts do :) As always, Sam was courteous and very patience on the plethora of questions that I was asking.

I've had my car for 6+ years and had never really gotten it checked out, but it felt like it needed some work. I didn't want to go to any old mechanic since they have a reputation for overcharging you (especially the dealers). So I asked a friend if we could refer me somewhere and he sent me to Transmasters. Although we had a couple of scheduling issues (partially my fault), they were extremely reasonable in their assessment and costs. I reviewed their proposal with a couple of knowledgeable friends and all agreed it was a good deal for the work. Transmasters was able to complete the job same day so I didn't have to leave my car overnight. All in all, it was a very positive experience and Sam is a trustworthy guy. I would go back again and refer friends as well.

I have 1999 Mercury Sable and I have to visit mechanics much more often than doctors. Ford is not know for long lasting cars and they do require constant attention. Without Transmasters I might have given up on it and just got rid of it by now. Sam has been so good to me and my car over the years, that he is the only one I ever recommend to my friends who have car issues. The greatest thing about him, is that I can trust him. And all of you know, especially women, how important that is with mechanics. Even if he is not exactly sure what is wrong with the car (doctors don't always know what's wrong with us), he is always honest about it and will always make sure I am ok with the price before he starts working on it. He never makes me do any extra, unnecessary repairs (like most of the other shops who look at my car). His labor rates are also much more competitive than any dealerships or even most of the shops around. Every friend I sent to him has been VERY satisfied. A few time he even installed the parts that I brought him to save me money (pretty much impossible to find in mechanic world). If I ever need a car advice or price comparison whom do you think I call? Car ownership in SD for me would be much more stressful and expensive if it wasn't for Transmasters. Mira

Sam was referred to me by a friend and I'm so grateful to her for that. I have a 2000 Subaru Outback that was having trouble with the check engine light being on due to a faulty oxygen sensor and catalytic converter. The Subaru dealer and an independent mechanic both quoted me $1500 to replace the oxigen sensor and catalytic converter. Sam was honest that it was probably just the oxygen sensor and replaced it for $200. The check engine light is off and things seem to be fine. I appreciated that Sam showed me the old part that he replaced, something very few mechanics bother to do. Definitely made me trust him more. An honest mechanic is a gift.

Too bad Elizabeth had a bad experience with Transmasters. I have had 2 clutches and one transmission overhaul done here with very good results. I have a hard time trusting ANY shop, but these guys deal straight with you and get the job done.

I have been taking my cars to Transmasters for years. Originally discovered by my parents, Transmasters is my only "trusted" shop. I own a 2001 Nissan Maxima and 2003 Honda Odyssey and both cars are regularly serviced by them. I recently had my Maxima's transmission done. 4000 miles so far and running great! Sam is reliable and trustworthy. He has always been up front with all the potential scenarios and associated costs. I have recently moved from San Diego to Orange County, but still have my cars serviced by Transmasters in San Diego (even had my Maxima towed from Torrance to San Diego when the transmission went out - thanks AAA). Bottom line: I strongly recommend taking your car to Sam @ Transmasters!

A couple of things about this shop: First, they were recommended to us when our trany went out. "Sam", the owner, was upfront with all asociated costs. He got the car fixed in a timely manner and even gave us a military discount. Over 2000 miles later the transmission is outstanding! Second, we had our other car conk out on us on the freeway during the first five miles of what was supposed to be a 1200 mile trip to Texas! We called Sam immediatley that night and he said to tow it there and he'd look at it first thing in the morning. He called us in the morning and let us know it was the fuel pump. They had it fixed for us and were were on the road by noon that same day! We've put several thousand miles on it since that day and no problems! The mechanics were friendly and obviously know more about cars than just transmisisons. This is our new go-to place should we have any more problems. Outstanding customer service, competitive pricing, and a running car is what to expect from thiese guys!
